Welcome to Troop 300's website!

Our troop has placed information on this website for Scouts, parents, and perspective members. Troop 300 was founded in 2003 with 9 Scouts and currently has 50+ registered Scouts. 

We meet on Tuesday nights from 7:15-8:30 PM at King of Glory Lutheran Church - 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188

Troop 300 Announcements - Week of September 15, 2019

Troop 300 Announcements for the week of September 15, 2019 and upcoming events.

Please refer to the Troop 300 Calendar for additional information on the following upcoming events:

1. September 17

     a.  Patrol Leaders Council, King of Glory, 7:15-8:30.

     b. Board of Reviews will be conducted during the same time for those Scouts who have signed up to try to provide rank advancement to deserving Scouts prior to the Court of Honor the following week.

     c. Bring in your photos on a CD if you want to see them in the Court of Honor slide show.  Provide to Tyler Ward the Historian.

2. September 18, Advancement Chair Suspense for Court of Honor Info.  Please submit any and all Advancement and Award items to John Garran, Advancement Chair no later than this date to permit sufficient time to process all items in time for the Court of Honor.

3. September 19, 8:30-9:30, Scout Leader Conference Call.  If you are an Adult ASM or a Scout SPL, ASPL, PL (or APL if PL cannot call in) one of your duties is to call into this conference call the week prior to every Troop meeting in order to coordinate the meeting and to obtain information you are to disseminate to your Patrol.  Many leaders have not been participating in this call, or participate inconsistently.  If you are a Patrol Leader and you are unable to call in, you are responsible for ensuring your APL calls in and that you inform the SPL. 

3. September 24

     a.  6:30-7:00 Troop equipment load out for Shenandoah Camping Trip.  Since we have an early departure on Friday for the trip, we must load ahead of time.  If you are a Scout Leader attending the Shenandoah Camping Trip, you are expected to show up and assist loading of the Troop equipment into the truck(s) that will be taking the equipment on the trip.  If Scout Leaders are not present to load the equipment, Scouts may not have the equipment they need on the trip. 

     b.  6:30-7:00 Set Up for Court of Honor.  The Honor Patrol of the Month, the Flaming Hatchets, will be responsible for setting up for the Court of Honor in the Founder’s Hall, which is the large room to the right down the hall behind where we normally meet.

     c.  7:15–8:30, Court of Honor, King of Glory, Founder’s Hall.  Come join us as we honor our Scouts who have advanced in rank and earned merit badges and other honors over the last 6 months.  

Scouts – if you are in need of a public speaking event (Communications merit badge), the Troop needs a primary and assistant Master of Ceremonies to conduct the event.  Contact Mr. Howard.

Our Historian, Tyler Ward, will be putting together two slide shows.  One is the traditional merit badges, other awards, and rank advancement.  The second will be a compilation of photos from the various trips and events over the last 6 months.  If you have good photos of events and Scouts from the last 6 months, please burn them to a CD/DVD and provide to Tyler Ward or Mr. Howard during the September 17 PLC.

4.  September 27-29, Shenandoah National Park Hiking and Camping Trip.  Note:  equipment load out for this event is Tuesday night, September 24, before the Court of Honor.  Scout Leaders are expected to assist with loading Troop equipment into the truck that will be transporting the gear.    

5.  September 28, Volunteer Opportunity from the District at Colonial Virginia Council Sporting Clays Classic, Providence Forge, Virginia.  There is an opportunity to volunteer at a shooting sports events that is being held on Sat. Sept. 28th from 9am to noon.  Scouts over 14 years old and adults are requested to act as score keepers and trappers for the event. In exchange for their time they will be given a commemorative hat and a catered lunch of pulled pork or chicken barbecue with all the fixings. It should be a fun day learning about shooting sports. The event is posted on the calendar, please sign up if you are interested and committed.  Volunteer POC is Mary Anne Dreher, District Chair, dreherma@att.net, who can answer any questions.
